Participation of Water and Wastewater Technical School Students at IWWI Exhibition and Conference
As part of the directives of Eng. Mamdouh Raslan, Chairman of the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater, students from technical secondary schools specializing in water and wastewater participated in the International Water, Wastewater, and Infrastructure (IWWI) Exhibition and Conference. The event, held under the theme “Water for Tomorrow,” coincided with the 13th ARWADEX Conference on Water Desalination in Arab Countries.

Mostafa El-Shimi, Chairman of the Board and Managing Director of Greater Cairo Water Company, emphasized that this participation is a valuable opportunity to familiarize students with the latest global technologies in the water and wastewater sectors. This initiative aims to prepare students for the job market and integrate them into the water and wastewater companies of the future.
Smart Management Initiatives: El-Shimi highlighted the launch of the geospatial platform during the event. This platform aims to implement intelligent and sustainable management for the production, development, and distribution of potable water.
Hands-on Exposure: Eng. Mansour Badawi, Chairman of Giza Water and Wastewater Company, noted that the students’ involvement allowed them to gain first-hand exposure to advanced equipment and machinery. This practical knowledge equips them to enhance performance and devise innovative solutions for sector challenges.
Future-Ready Workforce: Eng. Adel Hassan, Chairman of Cairo Wastewater Company, referred to this participation as a true investment in building a new generation of qualified engineers and technicians for the wastewater sector. Exposure to the latest technologies bridges the gap between technical education and practical application, ensuring sustainable development and operational efficiency.
Artificial Intelligence in Utilities: Eng. Walaa El-Sarougy, Director of Artificial Intelligence at Greater Cairo Water Company, mentioned that students explored advanced AI applications for managing stations, networks, and lifts. They also learned about cutting-edge technologies, enhancing their practical abilities and opening new opportunities for sector innovation.
Geospatial Platform Innovation: Dr. Eman Osman, General Manager of Research and Development at Greater Cairo Water Company, introduced the geospatial platform, a first in Egypt. This platform integrates over 80 updated databases from various company sites, enabling secure connectivity with governmental and research institutions. It provides real-time performance indicators and insights for decision-makers.
